All the members of our professional staff at the office of Dr. Mark Freeman & Associates maintain the highest levels of accreditation and pursue continuing education to stay abreast of the latest trends in dentistry. Whether it be chairside dental techniques or coding insurance to get the most for your money, the staff attend the classes which interest them --- with or without the Doctors in tow. The following pictures and biographies will help you learn more about the people our office is so dependent on.
Dental Assistants
Tori Dickerson
Tori is a Virginia native, born and raised in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Having lived in the Richmond area for the last 20 years, she attended the Dental Assisting program at J. Sargent Reynolds’s Community College, and began assisting at our office in January of 2002. “I enjoy our office because we provide high quality dentistry in an atmosphere which is relaxed and caring for both the patient and the employees.” Tori and her husband live South of the James with their dog Skippy. Their daughter is currently enrolled at Radford University.
Mary Alice Vaughn
Mary Alice was born in Williamsburg, Virginia but currently resides in Powhatan County. Living close to her family farm, she is the only daughter in a family of six, and she has a close relationship with her older brothers. Mary Alice began her dental training in April of 2009, and started her career later that year. Looking for a different style office, she began working at Dr. Mark Freeman & Associates in July of 2010. Since coming to our office she has widened her skills to include assisting with our orthodontic program. Even though she is Dr. Freeman’s dedicated chairside assistant, she helps all the Doctors and Hygienist however she can. “Our office is definitely more of a family environment, which makes it an enjoyable place to work.”
Christie Freeman
Christie was born at MCV hospital and was brought up in the City of Richmond, South of the James. After graduating from Trinity Episcopal, she attended Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. It was here, in the pursuit of her Biology Degree, that she first met her future husband, Dr. Mark Freeman. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in 1987, she began teaching High School Biology and Earth Science, and married her sweetheart in 1989. After the birth of their second child, Christie left her teaching career to help at the practice whenever she is needed. “Our office is like family to us, and we are always there for each other.” For nearly 20 years now, she has been “on call” to help our office by filling in when other employees are unable to be at work.
Business Office
Jaimie Snead, Office Manager
Jaimie has lived most of her life in Louisa County. She has been working in the dental field for over 15 years, and began at our office in January of 2001. As our office manager, she helps to keep things running smooth and efficient. Jaimie aids our patients in understanding their treatment procedures and scheduling their appointments. She is also one of the key people when it comes to understanding insurance benefits and billing issues, but her favorite part of dentistry is seeing the final results. “When a patient finishes a big case and comes up to the front desk and shows us their smile, it makes me feel good to know that we helped them.” Her life outside of our office is busy with her husband and two children. Everyone is heavily involved in sports and charitable organizations.
Kimberly Kelley, Assistant Manager
Kim was raised in Hanover County and lives there now not far from her family home. Although she began at our office in 2008, she is no stranger to the dental field. She has been working in dentistry for 15 years, starting off as a dental assistant but spending the latter years behind the front desk. Because of her many talents, you can often find Kim lending a hand in the back operatories. Kim is currently enrolled in college studying towards an Associate Degree in Business Management and a Major in Environmental Studies, something Dr. Freeman is very supportive of. In the office, she is one of the go to people whenever someone has a question about scheduling, billing, or how their insurance works. In her spare time, she loves being outdoors. Gardening, hiking and kayaking are just a few of her hobbies, and when her school load permits, she also participates in a local volleyball league.
Nick Eads, Front Desk
Nick is the newest addition to our office. Growing up in Hanover County, he is a graduate of Atlee High School. Currently, Nick is studying business at Virginia Commonwealth University. As he begins at our office, Nick is looking forward to learning the computer and the business aspect of dentistry as well as more about oral health to better assist our patients. He hopes this helps him with his future business career. Outside of work, he enjoys outdoor activities and spends his winters snowboarding.
